Ukhtasar is one of the most important archaeological finds of Armenia.
The mountain is on the central hill of Syunik region, where the ancient village, rich in rock paintings were discovered in 1968. It is situated in 3000-3300 meters above sea level.

On the territory of Ukhtasar is located glacial lake formed in the crater of an extinct volcano, erupting during the Pleistocene. In this lake swim almost year-round ice floes and snow in the surrounding area never completely melt.
